Privatize, go nuclear or continue as is?

In 2009, the Budryk coal mine near Katowice faced a difficult dilemme: privatizing, raising the specter of lay-offs; or continuing, but risking bankrupcy. Switching to nuclear energy wouldn't solve the problems of the miners, but was seen by energy decisionmakers as crucial. But environmental and financial concerns have stalled the process.
