Stuck on Malta
After escape from conflict zones, they have nowhere to go
African refugees from war-torn countries get stuck
in detention centers on Malta.
As a result of conflicts raging in Africa, an increasing flood of people try to make the jump to Europe, risking their lives once more by taking ramshackle boats, and hoping for political asylum on the European continent. But most countries are not willing to take them, and Malta, which has no diplomatic relations with many of the refugee's countries of origin, doesn't send them back, turning the country in an island-shaped prison. Its original inhabitants are not pleased...
